FALL ART PROGRAM
This course is taught by an important member of Canada's younger generation of Wildlife Artists, Dwayne Harty. During the course he will combine his abilities as a colorist and draftsman with his thorough understanding of the animals indigenous to this Ontario wilderness setting. Harty is a member of the Society of Animal Artists, from whom he received the Award of Excellence in 1993. In 1994 he was selected International Artist of the Year in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In addition to the wildlife subjects, Harty paints landscapes and has executed large scale murals and dioramas commissioned for the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in Regina and the Algonquin Park Visitors Centre.
Dwayne's work is represented in public, private and corporate collections in both Canada and in the U.S. Dwayne is assisted by Canadian artist Gene Canning. Gene is quickly becoming recognized as one of Canada's premier artists. His list of accomplishments has been growing rapidly, most significantly: HOST of the new weekly WPBS TV program "Journeys of An Artist". A nationally released travel show on PBS television. Gene will travel around the world with various guest artists talking about the places they travel and how it inspires them to create their art. "Travel through the eyes of an artist".
Demonstrations, presentations, lectures, slides, individual and group evaluation, and hands on field work with one on one guidance with our two artists in residence will make this a valuable and unique opportunity for every student. The program will also include a visit to the Algonquin Art Gallery and The Algonquin Park Visitors Centre. Students will have the opportunity to visit and paint on location at sites that Tom Thomson and members of The Group of Seven took their inspiration from many years ago.
